Section 2.5 The late 70s

Subsection 2.5.1 The year 1977

The minutes record only two items of note, both amendments to the original by-laws:
  • Amend Article III to reduce the number of members required to be present at a meeting to constitute a quorum from a majority of the members to one-third of the members. At the time there were 19 members listed in the roster of the Association.
  • Amend Article VII to extend eligibility for membership to the Association to owners of back lots with access to Stocker Pond, that is properties on the east side of Stocker Pond Road.

Subsection 2.5.2 The year 1978

The scheduled meeting of the Association needed to be rescheduled due to a lack of representation.
At the rescheduled meeting, a number of concrete matters were discussed:
  • Questions and general concern as to the water quality of the Pond were discussed, resulting in a motion to have the water tested twice per year.
  • The recurring problem of high water level in the pond prompted a motion to arrange to have Fish and Game trap and remove beavers and destroy existing dams which contribute to the issue.
  • Continue efforts to have speed limit signs erected in the area, and another request to the Palazzi Corporation concerning the misuse of the pond.
  • According to the Articles of Incorporation, members whose dues are in arrears at least two years may be removed from the rolls of the Association. It was agreed to give an opportunity for those in arrears to catch up by the 1979 meeting.
  • New officers: Glann Haskell as president; Joe Dasaro as Secretary-Treasurer; Fred Parsons, Don Cole and Warren Kuntz as directors.

Subsection 2.5.3 The year 1979

In a slow end to the decade, water testing showed the pond safe for swimming, but drinking water tests showed chloride presumably linked to the salting of the road. Plans were made to contact the "Extension Service" to obtain information on weed removal and control in the Pond. Some interest was expressed in perhaps joining with other associations dealing with waterfront properties.
