Preface Preface
These pages chronicle and organize actions taken by the Stocker Pond Association (originally the Property Ownersβ Association of Stocker Pond) to protect Stocker Pond and its surrounding watershed beginning in the late 1960βs to the present. We, the current owners, are fortunate to have been preceded by so many individuals dedicated to preserving the Pond.
While arranged chronologically, the reader cannot help but notice many recurrent themes: water quality, water level, beavers, aquatic vegetation, waterfront development and many more. Also many actions that were considered and investigated at great length in the past have been rendered moot by more stringent rules in the Water Protection Act, but are still relevant in demonstrating the resolve and purpose of the Association.
Finally, while I have done my best to interpret and convey the actions of the Association, I was not present for most of the history, so lack the perspective of those who actually took part. Suggestions and corrections are most welcome.
